More of a take out place than a sit-down restaurant, Tico’s Tacos (1627 South St) in Graduate Hospital, Philadelphia, was recommended to me by my neighbor, who has lived in the area for a few years, as I debated on what to order for dinner. I’ve ordered from them a few times since then, but this past October I made it a point to stop in and grab some tacos before heading out on a photography assignment.
With its unassuming exterior, it would be really easy to pass Tico’s Tacos by, but with really good food and an affordable price, it’s well worth stopping in if you’re craving tacos.
As I mentioned in my last post about Füssen, I spent my first night in Germany wandering around town and taking photographs. I was hoping for some nice light, but by the time I got out and about it was practically dusk. Still, one of my main goals of traveling to Germany was to practice my photography, so I headed out anyway. And I have to say, even without that precious Golden Hour light, Füssen there were still some beautiful scenes to be had.
Füssen is a small town in southwest Bavaria, Germany, just a few miles from the Austrian border. Its biggest claim to fame is, arguably, its proximity to Neuschwanstein Castle.
Built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria, Neuschwanstein Castle is a fairy tale like castle (that actually inspired Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle!) and the subject of probably millions of photos. That’s why when my boyfriend suggested I accompany him to Munich on a business trip, I immediately decided that I wanted to travel to Füssen to see the castle for myself.
In two weeks, I’ll be headed to Munich for the very first time! While I’ve done the majority of my planning, including booking flights and hostels, already, one thing I almost always leave until the last minute is packing! And I usually only pack my carry on bag on the morning of my flight. Otherwise I always feel like I’m forgetting something. But even though I always pack last minute, there are some things that I know will be in every single carry on I pack, regardless of flight duration or destination. I first experienced Federal Donuts at my office during one of our weekly Breakfast Club meetings. Each week, one of us volunteers to bring in breakfast for our group. Sometimes it’s homemade breakfast casseroles, sometimes a cereal bar, and sometimes, if we’re lucky, it’s Federal Donuts.
With multiple locations around the city and their combination of fresh-out-the-oven and “fancy” donuts, Federal Donuts has solidified itself as the place to get donuts in Philly. Personally, I almost always go for the hot fresh donuts, which come in flavors like Cookies and Cream, Cinnamon Brown Sugar and Strawberry Lavender (my personal favorite).
